Rep. Tom Lantos, a tireless champion of human rights passed away on Feb 11th, 2008 at the age of 80. Longtime Rep. Tom Lantos dies of Cancer BAWA offers the deepest sympathy to the Lantos family on their loss. Tom Lantos was an inspiring political figure who was a tireless fighter for justice and human rights for not only the US, but for the rest of the world as well. He had been a great supporter of the Burmese Human
Rights movement, pushing many bills through congress for the sake of Burma and actively participating in protests and rallies. He was personally in contact with many Burmese political groups in the Bay Area and Washington D.C. His death is a great loss to the world, who is need of more people like Tom Lantos, a man who dedicated his entire life to fight for freedom and to end oppression in the world.
